The Design: The treatment of typefaces and fonts on the cover is fun and simple and mimics Cosmo’s typology so that readers can recognize the brand. Bright pops of colors of yellow, teal and red set the perfect tone for the summer issue with feminine flare
The body is a fictious beauty spread about getting the perfect complexion. The full page ad of the model is used as the hook to the beauty editorial on the next page. The imagery chosen uses continuity through the models’ gaze to connect the two pages together. As readers start reading the editorial, they will naturally bounce back and forth between the two pages as they notice all the models on the editorial look back to the ad on the first page. Ultimately, making readers stay on the page longer to absorb all the contents
The words are tracked for an enjoyable read in a simple typeface housed in a multicolumn grid that offers strong vertical and horizontal lines for the readers’ eyes to follow
