CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
Background: NYCH (a non profit organization) required a library of Illustration assets for use on their promotions of various child-related and community programs
The Design: Adorable, playful, school aged children with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion doing various activities to inspire children and their parents/guardians to educate/enroll their children in the programs being offered at NYCH. The color palette chosen was bold, bright and contrasting which works on two levels - for children and their parents/guardians. While children gravitate towards the bright, fun pops of color, the color combination for the piece as a whole is also warm, inviting, safe and meant to peak curiosity for the parents/guardians to find out more about the programs

Background: Another program offered at NYCH dealt with mental health & wellness. These emoticons were designed to accompany their social media post on IG which addressed the question of “how are you” and how it impacts an individual who is struggling with their mental well being.
The Design: A chat bubble was used in the design of these emoticons because it was meant to be simple, approachable, universally relatable. When people chat or think, it is often characterized as chat bubbles or thought bubbles visually so when faces are applied to these chat bubbles, it automatically humanizes them, giving them life and character. White was used to symbolize a blank canvas applicable to all and blue was used to align with branding of NYCH.
The layout of this composition is meant to first capture the reader’s eye through the red thought bubble as it’s the color that pops first. Then, the reader’s eye will naturally start at the top to read “how are you” followed by the red thought bubble to signify the receiver is actually sad, then followed by a happy emoticon that says I’m good which clearly shows that the character is “hiding” their emotions when asked this question.
There were 3 versions of this composition that was completed to address the many different emotions (sad, stressed, scared) an individual could feel when asked this question and each version again accompanied their 3 different social media posts.
